Global Leaders In New Product Development Convene At Planisware’s User Summit North America, Discuss Portfolio Management Best Practices
Leading Project and Product Portfolio Management (PPM) software provider hosts 200 guests in Philadelphia and unveils product updates to its V6 software.
May 7, 2015 (San Francisco, Ca.) – Planisware™ – the leading global provider of Project and Product Portfolio Management (PPM) software solutions for new product development (NPD) organizations – recently held its annual user summit at the Radisson Blu in downtown Philadelphia.
The event brought together 200 NPD professionals from 50 different organizations worldwide – including Syngenta, Shell, Pfizer, and Ford – to discuss best practices and trends in PPM. This year’s summit featured industry leaders from Stage-Gate, Inc., Value Creation Associates, and the DaVinci Center of Innovation at the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).
Planisware founder and CEO, Pierre Demonsant kicked off the summit with a summary of company achievements, reviewing Planisware’s continued strong growth and leadership in the new product development market as evidenced by an increase in revenues in excess of 20% in the US over the last fiscal year, an expanding customer base, and Planisware’s designation as a leader in portfolio management for the business technology agenda in the Forrester Research report, “The Forrester Wave™: Portfolio Management Tools For The BT Agenda, Q1 2015.”
The program then introduced new updates to Planisware’s V6 software solution, which include updated portfolio simulation capabilities, enhanced business intelligence, and new collaboration on-the-go features that enable Planisware users to more easily communicate and gain PPM intelligence using their mobile devices.
Over the course of the summit, attendees chose from 25 different interactive sessions that included customer case studies, PPM process round table sessions, and Planisware workshops that illustrated how the software could support the business processes through automation and analytics. A few case studies presented this year included:
- Novozymes – The CEO of Novozymes recently challenged his organization to bring more significant innovations faster to market and to increase organic growth that originates from innovation by 50%. This spawned the initiative to update NPD process principles and business case building models and to facilitate portfolio management within a new integrated system. This case study focused on how Novozymes is now prioritizing the right projects, allocating the right resources, collaborating across the organization, and qualifying projects with real insight.
- Roche – In order to manage drug development across hundreds of molecules and dispatch work on thousands of projects across functional groups, it’s critical for Resource Managers at Roche to deliver accurate predictions of resource demand as well as assign resources efficiently. This case study presented the design of their highly successful resourcing and named workspace implementation.
- Actelion – Five years after first implementing their cross-functional planning initiative, this presentation reflected on how the organization was able to break boundaries that were separating disparate functional groups and align project portfolio management data/processes for a unified view of the project portfolio, leveraging Planisware software.
Our annual user summit is a highly anticipated event that provides our customers, industry leaders, partners, and Planisware experts a forum to share their experiences in enhancing innovation management efforts, said Pierre Demonsant, founder and CEO of Planisware.
He continued, “Our annual summit unites PPM leaders – Portfolio Executives, PMOs, Resource Managers, Project Managers, and Marketing Teams – from the most winning product development organizations around the globe. This offers a unique environment for learning the latest proven strategies for optimizing the product portfolio, maximizing R&D efficiency, and successfully implementing organizational change.
Planisware’s end-to-end innovation management software now serves over 290 customers including 40% of the top 60 global R&D spenders, making it the leading PPM software provider for new product development (NPD) organizations.
